At Simonburn Tearooms we often hear many of our bed and breakfast guests saying that they don’t want to leave us at the end of their relaxing weekend break. Just as the quiet of the rolling hills, the delicious home cooked food and the fresh Northumberland air have really started to really work their magic, it can be time for guests to pack their bags and leave us.

With this in mind we have developed a selection of exclusive rural retreats here at Simonburn. These three night short breaks have been designed to allow you to enjoy the peace, quiet and sanctuary of the hills here in Northumberland for a little longer. Venture out into the glorious Northumberland National Park, go star-spotting at the Kielder Observatory, meet the birds at the nearby Falconry Reserve, try your hand at crafting a Bonsai tree at Willowbog Bonsai school and let Mother Nature work her wonders.

Listen to the rushing stream as you arrive and cross the stone humpbacked bridge into the village. Prepare to leave the hustle and bustle of the world behind. This is more than a spa break. This is the real deal. Welcome to Simonburn…

There are three retreat breaks to choose from, each based in our beautifully appointed 17th Century property, the Simonburn Tearooms.

The De-Stress Retreat at Simonburn

Turn off your mobile phone, leave your laptop in your room and feel your shoulders unwind as you begin to relax. On this quiet holiday your days are your own. Step back in time to a gentler way of life and explore the beautiful village of Simonburn with its 13th Century church, pretty village green and 18th Century cottages.

Get back to nature in our cottage garden, home to fifty white doves, two Aylesbury ducks and a very territorial robin. Meet ‘The Laird of Simonburn’ – Dexter the West Highland Terrier – and see if you can spot the red breast and black head of one of the lesser-spotted woodpeckers that dart into the tearoom gardens in search of food.

Talking of food, relax and enjoy the selection of home cooked meals that Ann will prepare to order for you. Choose from fresh trout and salmon from the local rivers or pheasant, grouse and partridge according to the seasons. With a wine list chosen and provided by Dillies of Hexham, local Tarset Valley jams and marmalades made by Charlotte Lloyd and local farm eggs and milk for breakfast you can enjoy the tastes and flavours of your choice of fresh, local foods.

Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the respite from the noises of everyday life and rediscover a sense of inner peace.

What is important in your life? Reevaluate your priorities and allow yourself some valuable time for reflection and thought.

Simonburn retreats have been developed as an extension of our usual weekend breaks that never seem quite long enough. At Simonburn you can fully relax and unwind with a quiet three day holiday in the beautiful rolling hills of Northumberland.
